Senior Centers in the Time of Coronavirus

Coronavirus has changed nearly every aspect of our lives. Despite the unique challenges of the past six months, senior centers in Washtenaw County continue to do their best to serve older adults in their community. Below is a guide to current services and offerings from local senior centers:  

Ann Arbor Senior Center (734-794-6000 x42591)

  • Building Closed? Yes 
    • Staff in the building on Tuesdays from 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Programs Offered: 
    • Weekly newsletter with activity ideas- email BRuthven@a2gov.org to be added to newsletter

Chelsea Senior Center (734-475-9242) 

  • Building Closed? Yes 
    • Staff is in the office M-F between noon and 3pm to take phone calls.

  • Programs Offered:  
    • Meals on Wheels
    • Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) 
    • Outdoor activities (brown bag lunch)
    • Wellness programs (acupuncture, foot care, massage)

Dexter Senior Center (734-426-7737)

Milan Seniors for Healthy Living (734-508-6229)

  • Programs Offered: 
    • Curbside Cuisine (meal pickup @ the Senior Center. Call the center for qualifications) 
    • Friendly phone calls
    • Grocery delivery
    • Meals on Wheels
    • Transit service (medically necessary rides)
    • Webinars/Online programs

Northfield Township Senior Center (734-449-2295)

Pittsfield Township Senior Center (734-822-2117) 

  • Building Closed?  Open by appointment only 
  • Programs Offered:
    • Lunch Café 
      • Frozen meals available for pickup on Mondays from 11:30am-12:30pm. Call the center for eligibility requirements and to reserve a meal. 
      • Shelf stable food boxes are also available, which consist of 6 meals. Call the center for eligibility.
    • Outdoor activities (golf, tennis)
    • Virtual programming (Cardio Drumming, Bingo, Book Club, Flower Arranging Club, Creative Writing, Tai Chi, etc.) 

Saline Area Senior Center (734-429-9274) 

Silver Club (a program of Turner Senior Resource Center) (734-998-9352)

Turner Senior Resource Center (734-998-9353)

  • Building Closed?  Yes 
  • Programs Offered: 
    • In-person and virtual programming (health lectures, exercise classes, social programs, computer mentorship, meditation, etc.)
    • Open on Tuesday and Thursday from 1-5pm for in-person resource gathering, in-person care consultations, computer lab use, or visits.
    • Congregate lunch program will be open on Tuesdays for a limited number of people. Call ahead at (734) 998-9353 to make a reservation.
